Cat (Design by Gilad Aharoni)
This is a model, which I folded at the request of my aunt who simply loves cats
It is designed by Gilad Aharoni and Mari Michaelis has recorded a really great instructional video on this model and shared it on YouTube.com.
It is surprisingly simple to fold and the only tricky part is the closed sink which is to be folded not once but twice in the steps! However, with a little patience you will be able to get the hang of that little thing, too.
Type of paper:
I used large sized square origami paper, which was 9” in size – Large Origami Paper. You can use any other kind of paper to fold this model, too, provided that is not of the thick kind as the folds around the head of the cat turn to be very thick towards the end.
You can use both single side colored sheets of paper but if you notice the face – the areas around the eyes, nose and chin are contrasting colors. So, if you want that area to be black in color you should use a sheet colored black on one side and any other color (such as brown) on the other side i.e. duo paper. When starting to fold the model, make sure that the black color is inside / inward.
How to fold this origami cat:
Do check out the instructional video – by Marigami – at YouTube, I found it really easy to follow and the steps are depicted clearly. I hope you find just as easy!
Oh, might I add, the kitty cat’s name is “Trixie” after my dear aunt’s pet
