Giraffe (Design by Artur Biernacki)

Giraffe (Design by Artur Biernacki)

This particular design has been on my ‘To-Do’ list for quite a while, now. I have been meaning to fold this ever since the 2nd edition of the 4 Esquinas magazine was published

Designed by Artur Biernacki, this giraffe involves 95 steps in the folding process and can be categorized as complex. Since I had stock of Animal print kami paper, I decided to give this model a try with it. Being Kami, it became a bit difficult to shape at the end of the folding process and if you look closely the paper has becgun to wear out in certain places. But, since I wanted to use giraffe skin printed paper for this particular model, I am happy with the results.

Paper to Use:
You will be better off using tissue foil paper for this model. It will also help shaping at the end of the folding process. For my rendition, I used an approx 8 1/4th inch square sheet of Origami Paper Animal Prints which I had bought sometime ago. These are printed on both sides and make it well suited for such designs.

How to fold this model:
Diagrams for this model can be found in the second installment of the online origami magazine – 4 Esquinas. While folding beware of step 71 which has like a million folds to collapse, to form the head of the giraffe 😀

Hope all of you had a very Happy Thanksgiving!
